Adverse Effects:
Heart
Lung
• No toxicological
data available on this inert aside from the following citations
from a Material Safety Data Sheet. US EPA does not allow the
public to know the identity, nor the toxicological significance,
for the inerts used in pesticidal products. Inerts can account
for as much as 99% of a pesticide. |
Heart

-- Inhalation of the
decomposition products of Poly TFE may cause polymer fume fever;
a lung irritation requiring medical treatment for fluorine compounds
which can cause delayed pulmonary edema. A polymer fume fever
is a flu-like condition which occurs several hours after exposure
and subsides within 24 hours even in the absence of treatment.
Polymer fume fever does not cause permanent injury and the effects
are not cumulative.
-- Human health effects of overexposure by inhalation to very
high concentrations may cause temporary
alteration of the heart's electrical activity with irregular pulse,
palpitations, or inadequate circulation. Individuals with
preexisting diseases of the central nervous or cardiovascular
system may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity
of excessive exposures.
