Pentoxaxone (rice herbicide) is "a new oxazolidinedione compound, is known to be a Protox inhibitor and used to control annual broad leaves, barnyard grass and monocholia in paddy fields with a long lasting effect."

According to the 2nd edition of An Introduction to Herbicides (Whitacre & Ware) Oxazolidinediones- Pentoxazone (Wechser®) is the only member of the Oxazolidinedione class, at present. It is used on rice and at present only in S. Korea. It is an inhibitor of PPO.
