SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: EPA issued a notice published in the Federal Register
of May 17, 1995 (60 FR 26434), stating that a temporary tolerance had been established
for combined residues of the insecticide fipronil (5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-
trifluoromethylsulphinyl pyrazole) or its metabolites MB 46136 (5- amino-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-
trifluoromethylsulphonyl pyrazole) or MB 45950 (5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,6- dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-
trifluoromethylthiopyrazole) in or on the raw agricultural commodity field corn
grain at 0.02 parts per million (ppm). This tolerance is renewed in response
to a request dated November 15, 1995, to extend Pesticide Petition (PP) 3G4263,
submitted by Rhone Poulenc AG Company, P.O. Box 12014, 2 T.W. Alexander
Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709-2014.
The company has requested a 1-year renewal of a temporary tolerance for residues
of the insecticide to permit the continued marketing of the above raw agricultural
commodity when treated in accordance with the provisions of the experimental
use permit 264-EUP-95, which is being renewed under the Federal Insecticide,
Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) as amended (Pub. L. 95-396, 92 Stat.
819; 7 U.S.C. 136). The scientific data reported and other relevant material
were evaluated, and it was determined that a renewal of the temporary tolerance
will protect the public health. Therefore, the temporary tolerance has been
renewed on the condition that the pesticide be used in accordance with the experimental
use permit and with the following provisions:
