Three groups (Fluoride Action Network, Environmental Working Group, Beyond Pesticides) petitioned EPA in June 2006 to revoke all food tolerances of sulfuryl fluoride, produced exclusively by Dow AgroSciences. The petition was submitted to EPA by the groups' attorney Perry Wallace of the international law firm Zelle, Hofmann, Voebel, Mason and Gette. EPA solicited public comments to the groups' petition in the July 5, 2006, Federal Register, with a deadline date of August 4, 2006. The following are some of the comments submitted to the Docket.

Proposed Rule-Protection of stratospheric ozone process for exempting critical uses from the phaseoutof methyl bromide. 69 Fed. Reg. 52365-52402

Comment referring to without some changes, we do not see how sulfuryl fluoride (SF) can replace methyl bromide in the quantities envisioned by USEPA, and we doubt whether the Agency can make the needed changes by 2005 submitted by James Bair, North American Millers' Association (NAMA) EPA-HQ-OAR-2003-0230
