DEC nominated for 'Dirty Dozen' award
by Canton group
CANTON - Fluoride Action Network Pesticides Project, Canton,
nominated one of the "Dirty Dozen" awards announced
this week by Citizens' Environmental Coalition, Albany, a non-profit
organization that advocates for pollution prevention and environmental
justice.
FAN Pesticides Project nominated the state Department of Environmental
Conservation's Division of Natural Resources under the Pataki
administration for its lack of funding of the state Wildlife Pathology
unit.
The lack of money prevented the department, headed by Ward B.
Stone, from adequately testing suspicious causes of wildlife deaths,
reducing information on the contribution of polluters and pesticides.
Ellen M. Connett is director of FAN Pesticides Project.
